Playmate sticks and face buttons don’t change much in appearance but feel more responsive and lighter. The new D-pad is something that many users have wanted to fix since the previous iteration. Now it’s too tactile and has a concave appearance with a hard touch to their liking. The shoulder and trigger buttons feel pretty good in their own place, but we’re good enough, to start with the last model.

For power, the new Xbox One controller is two different AA batteries which are expected to last for around forty hours of gameplay in one cycle. Microsoft recommends that you use rechargeable batteries that are more economical in the long run.

In terms of connectivity, you get a micro USB port, a 5mm port, an expansion port to be connected using cables and cables. On the wireless front, you get Xbox Wireless to connect to the Xbox console and Bluetooth connectivity to connect to your PC.

Connecting your Xbox One controller to a PC using a micro USB cable is fairly easy. Simply plug the micro USB cable into your controller and connect the other end to your PC. Your PC will immediately recognize the device and ask to install the Xbox one controller driver for your PC. When finished, the Xbox guide button will display, and you can start using your controller.

The Windows 10 operating system is ideal for using controllers, and you can have up to 8 controllers connected at once. This is reduced to 4 if you have connected Xbox chats or only two if you have a stereo headset connected.

Windows 7 and eight will allow you up to 4 controllers at a time. Please note that audio throughput support is not available for Windows 8 and 7.

How to use the Xbox one controller on a PC via a wireless adapter

The process is also quite simple, similar to a connection via a USB cable.

  1. Connect your Xbox Wireless adapter to one of your USB PCs
  2. Turn on the Xbox One controller using the Guide button located in the middle.
  3. Now press and hold the synchronization button placed on the controller at the top until the second Guide button starts blinking.
  4. Now press and hold, the synchronization button is placed at the end of the Xbox Wireless adapter for a few seconds.
  5. Keep an eye on the Guide button that flashes on the control panel. When that turns solid, your controller is now connected to your PC for use.

If you encounter any problems, be sure to check all other USB ports or get a new Xbox Wireless Adapter.

How to use the Xbox one controller on a PC via Bluetooth

The best things in life are also the most difficult to come by. And in this case, connecting via Bluetooth is not an easy task.

The first and foremost thing that you should pay attention to is that the Xbox one controller model that you have is compatible with Bluetooth. Not all models have Bluetooth support.

The way you know the Bluetooth-supported model from that model is that Bluetooth is not supported by a plastic mold at the apex. Older ones with more aggressive prints are not supported by Bluetooth while newer ones with finer nuances have Bluetooth support.

You can also find out if your controller has a 3.5 mm headphone jack at the bottom of the control panel. That is an indication that your controller supports Bluetooth.

The last thing is to just check your package when you buy a controller. That should be easy enough !!

This is how you connect your Xbox One controller to your PC via Bluetooth.

  1. Look for Bluetooth settings on your PC and make sure it is activated, with your device found. (You should note that Bluetooth support for Xbox one controllers is only allowed on Windows 10 PCs and not the previous operating system).
  2. Press and hold the guide key to activate your Xbox one controller.
  3. Again, press and hold the synchronization button until the guide button starts blinking.
  4. In your PC’s Bluetooth settings menu, after your controller is detected, click and add a device. After pairing, you can now start using the controller on a PC.

(Please note that you can only pair one Xbox controller to your PC via Bluetooth at a time)

How do you configure and keep your controller updated?

You can continue to update the Xbox one controller for your PC through the Xbox Accessories application in the windows store. Keep in mind that this is only possible on Windows 10 systems.

Connect your controller via a USB cable to your PC. Download the Xbox Accessories application and open it. After your controller is detected, click ‘Other options’ to check whether there is an update for your firmware controller. If there is, download and allow updates to your controller.

Instead of looking to configure your controller options in the game step, you must use the Accessories option to form variations in button mapping, reverse stick exchanges and to trigger or deactivate or activate rumble. You can also the Accessories application to configure analog stick sensitivity and trigger options.
