How to Save Web Pages as PDFs in Google Chrome

Sometimes, you want to take a “printed copy” from a website in Google Chrome, but you don’t need to print it on paper. In this case, it’s easy to save a website to PDF files on Windows 10, Mac, Chrome OS, and Linux.

First, open Chrome and navigate to the webpage that you want to save to PDF. Once you are on the right page, look for the vertical ellipsis button (three vertically aligned points) in the upper right corner of the window and click.

1

In the menu that appears, select “Print.”

2

A print window will open. In the drop-down menu labeled “Destination,” select “Save as PDF.”

3

If you only want to save certain pages (for example, only the first page, or ranges like pages 2-3) into a PDF file, you can do this here using the “Pages” option. And, if you want to change the orientation of PDF files from portrait (vertical) to landscape (horizontal), click on the “Layout” option.

When finished, click “Save” at the bottom of the Print window.

4

The “Save As” dialog will appear. Select the path where you want to save the PDF file (and rename the file if necessary), then click “Save.”

5

After that, the website will be saved as a PDF file in the location you choose. If you want to double check, navigate to your storage location, open the PDF, and see if it looks correct. If not, you can change the settings in the Print dialog and try again.

It is also possible to print documents to PDF files on Windows and on Mac in applications other than Chrome. On both systems, this process involves print-to-PDF functionality integrated in the system, which is very useful if you want to capture document formatting for posterity.
