How to Disable Chat Notifications on Zoom

For free Zoom days notifications

Chat notifications can make people scared after a while. This constant pop-up regardless of where you are on can be deactivated in Zoom with these simple steps.

Open the Zoom application on your desktop and click ‘Settings’ (gear icon) in the upper right corner of the apps.

On the Zoom settings screen, click ‘Chat’ in the left panel. Then, look for the ‘Push Notifications’ section in the chat settings and select the ‘None’ option to turn off all chat notifications in Zoom.

Set Exceptions for Multiple Chat Notifications

If you use Zoom for work, some chat messages might be important enough that you shouldn’t turn off notifications for them. Fortunately, Zoom has a feature that allows you to set exceptions based on specific channels, contacts, or even ‘keywords’ in messages.

Set exceptions to the channel in Zoom Chat

You can make exceptions in notifications that are disabled for certain channels by clicking the ‘Channels’ button in the ‘With exceptions to …’ option.

The ‘Important Channels’ window will open. Here, you can choose the channel from which you want to continue to receive chat notifications. You can even adjust the types of notifications you want to receive for those important channels (All messages, Private messages only or designations or None).

Press the ‘Save’ button in the lower right corner of the window to save your changes.

Exception settings for Contacts

If you want to turn off all chat notifications but keep them alive for only certain contacts, click the ‘Contact’ button in the ‘Receive notifications for ..’ option.

The ‘Contact’ button will only appear if you select ‘None’ in Push Notifications.

Check the box next to each contact as to continue to receive notifications and then click the ‘Save’ button at the bottom right of the ‘Contacts’ screen.

Now all of your chat notifications will be deactivated except for the contact you selected in this box.
Exclusions for Keywords

If there are certain keywords for which you want to get chat notifications even though globally turn off notifications for Zoom chats, click the ‘Keywords’ button right next to the ‘Contact’ button.

Then, add the keywords for which you want to get notified and click ‘Finish’.

You will now receive chat notifications for all messages containing this keyword.

Get a notification-free workday on Zoom, but remember to check the chat occasionally so you don’t miss important things (if you don’t make an exception).
