Always update everyone on the team with announcements, project updates, and many other things using RSS feeds in the Microsoft Team
Businesses are quickly moving towards setting up a virtual environment for employees to work from home with the right communication and productivity tools. To help them, companies like Microsoft often add new features to their collaboration software, Microsoft Teams.
Among the many tools to keep everyone in a circle on a team, Microsoft Teams offers a way to add RSS feeds to the team channel so everyone on the team gets product updates, announcements, and many other things that can be sent with syndicated feeds from internal or external resources that the team might use.
To get started, open the Microsoft Teams Desktop application or navigate to teams.microsoft.com in your browser and log in to your account. Then, click on the ‘Application’ icon located on the left side of the Team main screen.
Click ‘Connectors’ on the left on the Applications screen. Then, from the list of applications displayed on the right, scroll down a little and click the ‘RSS’ application when you see it.
In the pop-up dialog box list of RSS applications, click the ‘Add to team’ button.
Then, select the team / channel where you need to add an RSS feed. Type the name of the channel in the ‘Type team or channel name’ field and select the desired channel / team from the list of suggestions that appear below the field.
After selecting the channel, click the ‘Prepare connector’ button located on the bottom right of the screen.
Finally, I will see the RSS connector screen. Here, enter a name for your RSS feed, and in the ‘Address’ field provide the URL for the RSS feed that you want to add to the channel.
You can also set a specific frequency for the feed. If this is a feed from an important announcement, you might want to change it from the standard 6 hours to a 15 minute digest frequency. This will make the Microsoft Team check the feed every 15 minutes and post updates to the team channel when there is new content in the feed.
Click the ‘Save’ button at the bottom of the RSS application screen when you are configuring options.
You will then be directed to the ‘Connector’ screen. If you want to add more feeds to your channel, click the ‘Configure’ button next to RSS and add another feed, or click the ‘Close’ button to return to your Team’s main screen.
By adding RSS feeds to the Microsoft Team channel, you can not only save time from sending emails, but also your team can keep up-to-date on the latest developments in the company right on the Team Posting screen.
